I knew that I wanted to do something different, yet carefree because I was tired of going to the hairdresser! Every Friday I would go to the hairdresser for my usual wash and set (which would take no less than 4 hours; if I was getting a touchup, 6 hours). I was spending on average 832 hours a year at the hairdresser...that is no way to live!! I also knew that I wanted to change my look prior to my 40th birthday (November 18th). I found the SisterLocks website back in August and was immediately hooked! After looking at the website about a hundred times, I decided to do the "Damn Thang!" I had my SLocks installed on October 30th-31st, 2006 by Calla Johnson, who is an absolute treasure. It took 17 hours (or two days) to completely lock my hair. As my hair settles in, I'm trying to recover from my initial OMG, I look just like Pinhead from HellRaiser moment (LOL)! I'm ready for my SisterLock journey to truly begin, so stay tuned...

Welcome! Congratulations on you Sisterlocks! Best Wishes to your New Hair Journey!
congrats on taking the plunge! I'm looking foward to reading about your journey!
Hey Cassie! Congratulations! You look so adorable with your baby locks. I saw your post on lockitup about styling and the best thing you can do while your hair is in the settling phase is absolutely nothing!!
As you know, I started with that amount of hair and I know it can be tough to adjust to the short length and watching everyone else style their hair makes you so envious. But hang in there. I promise your time will come.
My first style was at 7 Months. Manipulation too soon will cause slippage and slow down the locking process. My advice is to hold off for the next 3-4 months and just freestyle. It will be worth it in the long run.
Cassie, I know the feeling! Congratulations on your getting your sisterlocks! They look beautiful.
Hey Cassie,
Welcome to the Sisterlock family. I look forward to following your hair journey.
Thanks Tanya! I started reading the locked Hair Blog Exchange before I finally decided to get my SLocks, and I have to admit that your hair was one of the things that convinced me to go for it.
IMHO, your locks were cute when you first got them, and they are fabulous now. I can't wait for the day when my Slocks will look like yours do now.
In the meantime, I will continue to be patient and try not to envy your beautiful locks...LOL!
Cloudnine, thanks so much for the compliment. You really think they look beautiful? I'll admit, I'm starting to like my SLocks, but when I first got them I thought to myself "what have I done?"
Now I think your SLocks are beautiful. I can't wait until my hair is settled and stable enough for me to use the soft spikes curlers!
Welcome and congratulations!!!!
Welcome home Cassie. You have made a wonderful decision to lock and I know from experience how much happier you'll be with your natural hair and your Sisterlocks. Keep us posted on your progress and follow your consultant's advice. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but the time goes by fast.
Calla is the greatest Welcome to the Ssiterlock Family on your Journey!
